Day Students

At Whanganui Collegiate School, the only difference between day students and boarders is where they lay their heads at night! Day students are an integral part of the school’s vibrant community, enjoying a richer experience than what traditional day schools typically offer.

Unlike most day schools, where the school day ends in the afternoon and runs only five days a week, Whanganui Collegiate School offers day students the chance to be fully involved in school life.
Each morning begins with House activities, fostering a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie. Day students then move seamlessly into classes, sports, and cultural programmes alongside their peers. While it’s not mandatory, many choose to stay for dinner and evening prep, making the most of the school’s facilities before heading home to their families.

As members of a boarding House, day students actively participate in House competitions, social events, and the vibrant life of the school. Their House dayroom serves as a welcoming hub—a place to study, relax, and connect with friends, making Whanganui Collegiate School feel like a second home.
Whanganui Collegiate School is more than just a school—it’s a community where day students are fully embraced and supported to thrive in all aspects of school life.
